The Russell D. and Mary B. Shelden Clinical Simulation Center had its grand opening on May 12, 2008.

The 10,000 sq ft simulation facility contains:

- 8 Examination Rooms
- 4 Multi-purpose Simulation Rooms
- 1 Classroom
- 1 Conference Room w/ presentation technology
- 2 Observation & Control Rooms
- Administrative offices

$2.3 million gift to the MU School of Medicine.

Retired Kansas City anesthesiologist Russell Shelden and his wife, Mary Shelden, provided the donation to fund the Russell D. and Mary B. Shelden Clinical Simulation Center. The center allows students to perform medical procedures on electronically controlled mannequins and interact with real people acting as standardized patients.
